News Summary
North Las Vegas is currently dealing with multiple violent incidents including an officer-involved shooting and the tragic deaths of two teenagers over the weekend. Authorities are urging the public to avoid the affected areas while investigations are underway. The community is increasingly concerned about safety and gun-related crimes, prompting calls for enhanced policing and outreach programs.
North Las Vegas Experiences Multiple Violent Incidents
North Las Vegas, NV – The North Las Vegas Police Department is currently managing a critical situation that arose on Sunday morning near Losee Road and Deer Springs Way. Authorities are urging the public to stay clear of the area to allow emergency personnel to handle the ongoing incident effectively. Details regarding the nature of the situation have not been disclosed, but police have confirmed that at least one individual has been taken into custody.
In a separate yet related incident, two individuals were hospitalized following an officer-involved shooting that took place Sunday night at approximately 10:39 p.m. This shooting occurred at the intersection of West Lone Mountain Road and Scott Robinson Boulevard, just hours after an earlier investigation of a drive-by shooting on Hickman Avenue.
Initially, officers observed two vehicles believed to be linked to the earlier drive-by shooting. As police pursued the vehicles, individuals inside began firing at the officers, striking two Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) vehicles. In response, one officer in a police vehicle returned fire before the suspects fled the scene. Responding law enforcement subsequently located and detained both vehicles along with their occupants. As a result of this confrontation, two individuals were hospitalized; one suffered non-life-threatening injuries, while the other is listed in critical condition. Fortunately, no officers sustained injuries during the incident, which marks the fourth officer-involved shooting in 2025.
According to LVMPD policy, the identity of the officer involved in the shooting will be released after 48 hours. The investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement is encouraging any individuals with information about the incident to reach out to the LVMPD’s Force Investigation Team.
Teenagers Fatally Shot Over the Weekend
In addition to the officer-involved shooting, two teenagers were tragically killed in separate shooting incidents in North Las Vegas over the weekend. Around 5:06 p.m. on Friday, police responded to shots fired on Las Vegas Boulevard North. A 15-year-old boy, identified as Daniel Robles, was found with a gunshot wound and despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The suspects involved in this homicide fled before police arrived, and the investigation is still ongoing.
On Sunday morning at approximately 1:55 a.m., officers responded to a shooting incident at a business on East Lake Mead Boulevard. There, they discovered a 17-year-old male who was unresponsive. Medical personnel attempted life-saving measures, but unfortunately, he also did not survive due to his injuries. Law enforcement is actively searching for suspects connected to this shooting, which has been assigned to homicide detectives for further investigation.
Community Response and Ongoing Investigations
The string of violent incidents has raised community concerns about safety and the increase in gun-related crimes in the area. Both incidents involving minors have particularly shaken the local population, prompting calls for increased policing and community outreach programs aimed at violence prevention.
Currently, the LVMPD is focused on gathering evidence and information related to both the officer-involved shooting and the homicide investigations. Community members are being urged to stay vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to authorities as efforts continue to ensure the safety of North Las Vegas residents.
