Vibrant parade scene in Las Vegas with colorful floats and crowds

News Summary

Las Vegas is set to host a variety of cultural events and celebrations this May, including the Helldorado Days Parade and Cinco de Mayo festivities. The parade, featuring 135 entrants, will celebrate the city’s rich western heritage while also promoting community engagement through funding for local schools. In addition to the parade, various musical performances and culinary events will take place, showcasing the city’s vibrant entertainment scene. With a historical birthday celebration just days away, this month promises to offer something for everyone in Las Vegas.

Las Vegas is gearing up for a series of exciting events and celebrations as the city approaches significant milestones and cultural festivities this May. Among the highlights are the Helldorado Days Parade, Cinco de Mayo celebrations, and various musical performances, all designed to showcase the vibrant community spirit and diverse entertainment options available in the city.

The Helldorado Days Parade, organized by the City of Las Vegas, will take place on May 10, 2023, starting at 10 a.m.. The parade will unfold on Fourth Street, between Gass and Stewart Avenues, and is expected to feature approximately 135 entrants, including local school bands, cowboys, and classic car clubs like the Las Vegas Valley Model A Club. This free, family-friendly event not only celebrates Las Vegas’s rich western roots but also brings together local communities.

The city is contributing to this community event by funding local school groups, awarding $1,500 for float entries and $1,000 for band appearances. As part of the festivities, the best float and best band will each receive a $500 prize. This year’s parade coincides with Las Vegas’s 120th birthday, which will be celebrated just five days later on May 15.

In addition to the parade, Las Vegas will host various entertainment acts throughout May. Comedian Dusty Slay will perform at Palazzo Theatre, while DJ Quik is set to take the stage at Brooklyn Bowl, and country star Brantley Gilbert will entertain at BleauLive Theater. Music lovers can also enjoy the Reggaeton Rave at AREA15, featuring a mix of Latin and EDM genres.

Cinco de Mayo festivities will kick off early, with significant events planned throughout the city. The Plaza Hotel & Casino will host a free party on May 5 starting at 4 p.m., featuring a mariachi band, traditional dancers, and drink specials. Uno Más Street Tacos + Cocktails will celebrate with special dishes like red pozole and margaritas. On May 3, Tivoli Village will host a family-friendly event with local shopping, entertainment, and face painting, providing a festive atmosphere for attendees of all ages.

The week following Cinco de Mayo will see Las Vegas Distillery celebrating National Craft Distillery Day on May 22. The first 30 visitors will be treated to free interactive tours, promoting local craft distilling.

In the culinary scene, new dining options are emerging, with the opening of the new restaurant Pisces Bar & Seafare at Wynn, which focuses on Mediterranean seafood and cocktails. Blue Orchid Thai Kitchen has also opened on Las Vegas Blvd, offering Thai cuisine daily from noon to 10 p.m.. Additional food-related events include a cookbook signing by the fan-favorite chef from Top Chef at Best Friend at Park MGM on May 20, and a Bloody Mary Brunch Party hosted by Diane Mina at Bardot Brasserie on May 24.

Contributing to the festive atmosphere, Flanker Kitchen + Sports Bar at Mandalay Bay is set to launch a tropical pop-up experience called My Tai starting on May 23. The same day, Naughty Patty’s will preview a pop-up at the Cosmopolitan, offering complimentary burgers to the first 25 attendees.

This array of events and celebrations demonstrates Las Vegas’s dedication to showcasing its rich cultural heritage and providing entertainment for residents and visitors alike. With exciting festivities taking place throughout May, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
