Las Vegas – A new exhibit titled “Remembering 1 October” will open to the public from September 29 to October 9, 2025, at the Rotunda Gallery in the Clark County Government Center. This exhibit is dedicated to honoring the victims of the tragic 2017 mass shooting that occurred during the Route 91 Harvest Festival, which resulted in 60 deaths and hundreds of injuries.

Located at 500 South Grand Central Parkway in downtown Las Vegas, the exhibit features a curated selection of mementos left at the Welcome to Las Vegas sign after the shooting. These artifacts are part of the Clark County Museum’s extensive 22,000-piece collection of items related to the events of October 1, 2017. Visitors can expect to see emotional tributes including banners, letters, cowboy hats, stuffed animals, and various other items left by individuals wishing to express their grief and support in the wake of the tragedy.

Clark County Commissioner Jim Gibson emphasized the community’s ongoing commitment to remember the lives affected by the shooting and to foster a sense of unity through memorials and commemorative events. In total, more than 60 volunteers dedicated their time over 18 months to cataloguing these heartfelt artifacts, showcasing the community’s resilience and solidarity.

In addition to the exhibit, a series of remembrance events will take place in September and October to mark the anniversary of this tragic event. Key activities include:

  • A 1 October Sunrise Ceremony on October 1 at 7:30 a.m. at the Clark County Government Center Amphitheater.
  • An annual 1 October Memorial Blood Drive hosted by the Vegas Golden Knights, running from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • A noon gathering organized by Unburdened 6 at Canyon Ridge Christian Church, honoring veterans and first responders.
  • Fuente de Vida’s healing event for Latino bereaved families and community members at 6:30 p.m.
  • A remembrance ceremony at the Las Vegas Community Healing Garden at 10:05 p.m., which will include readings of the victims’ names, a tolling bell, and candle lighting.

During the annual tradition, Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman will read the names of the 58 victims who lost their lives, reflecting the community’s commitment to honor the deceased, the injured, and the heroes who responded during the tragic event.

Furthermore, plans are underway for a permanent memorial called “Forever One.” This memorial will feature 58 candles, symbolizing each victim, and a screening wall to obstruct the view of the Mandalay Bay tower, the site from which the shooter targeted attendees of the concert. MGM Resorts has generously donated land for the memorial, further demonstrating the community’s efforts to create a lasting tribute.

The exhibit and associated remembrance events serve as vital opportunities for reflection, healing, and unification among the residents of Las Vegas. They reinforce a shared commitment to remembering the past while fostering a spirit of community and hope for the future.
