The site of the upcoming Aldi store is conveniently situated at the intersection of Charleston and Decatur boulevards, a central hub for local shopping that also includes established retailers such as Big 5 Sporting Goods and Magic Wash Laundromat. With this new addition, Aldi aims to enhance its presence in the rapidly growing community.

Regional vice president Shawn Eddy confirmed the plans for the Decatur Boulevard location but did not disclose additional information regarding store features or hiring projections. The average size of former 99 Cents Only stores is about 23,600 square feet, according to data from CoStar Group Inc., which indicates that the new Aldi may offer a comparable shopping experience in terms of space and layout.

Currently, all 18 99 Cents Only stores in the Las Vegas Valley were closed by May 2024, resulting in approximately 425,000 square feet of retail space becoming available in Southern Nevada. This closure has opened avenues for new retailers like Aldi to establish their presence in the market.

Aldi has been actively expanding in the Las Vegas area, having recently opened two new stores on April 24, 2024; these locations can be found at 621 Marks St. in Henderson and 2106 W. Craig Road in North Las Vegas. A third location at 7150 S. Rainbow Blvd. is scheduled for opening on May 15, 2024, demonstrating the chain’s commitment to growth in the region.

The overall expansion strategy for Aldi indicates a significant ambition within the United States market, with plans to open a total of 800 new stores by the end of 2028. This initiative is part of a larger goal to increase the total number of Aldi stores in the U.S. to over 3,200 within the next five years, capitalizing on the growing consumer demand for affordable grocery options.
