The 39-year-old was convicted by a jury in Pennsylvania and had been on the run following his conviction in June. Bostwick, classified as a sexually violent predator, is now awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania for sentencing.
Las Vegas – Barry Bostwick, a fugitive from Pennsylvania, was apprehended by law enforcement in Downtown Las Vegas after failing to appear for his court sentencing. Bostwick, 39, was convicted by a jury in Perry County, Pennsylvania, of “Deviate Sexual Intercourse with a Child” in June 2023. Following his conviction, he was scheduled for sentencing on September 14, 2023, but did not show up in court, sparking a nationwide manhunt.
The absence of Bostwick prompted an extensive search led by the Perry County Sheriff’s Office, in coordination with the Pennsylvania State Police’s Newport Station and the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force. On July 14, 2025, authorities received a tip suggesting that Bostwick was living homeless on the streets of Las Vegas. This information was quickly passed on to the U.S. Marshals Service, who took immediate action to locate and arrest him.
Bostwick was found around the bustling intersection of 9th Street and Fremont Street in Las Vegas. The arrest was carried out without incident, concluding a relentless pursuit that spanned across several states. Bostwick, classified as a sexually violent predator by the Pennsylvania Sexual Offender Assessment Board, was also considered armed and dangerous prior to his capture.
Following his arrest, Bostwick was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Clark County Detention Center. A hearing for his case is scheduled for the Thursday following his arrest. Perry County Sheriff David Hammar confirmed that efforts are underway to extradite Bostwick back to Pennsylvania, where he will stand for sentencing in the Court of Common Pleas, 41st Judicial District.
Bostwick’s legal issues stem from multiple charges related to sexual assault, which include aggravated indecent assault, involuntary deviant sexual intercourse, and endangering the welfare of a child. His conviction was the result of a jury trial in which the evidence against him was deemed substantial and persuasive.
The case has garnered significant attention, not only due to the nature of the crimes but also because of the extensive resources dedicated to locating Bostwick. Sheriff Hammar expressed gratitude towards all law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation, highlighting the collaborative efforts that led to Bostwick’s capture.
The manhunt for Bostwick underscores the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in tracking down convicted felons who evade the judicial process. The successful apprehension of Bostwick serves as a reminder of the commitment to public safety and the lengths to which agencies will go to ensure that justice is served.
As Barry Bostwick awaits his upcoming hearing in Las Vegas, the focus now shifts back to Pennsylvania, where authorities are prepared to resume legal proceedings against him. The situation remains a critical example of law enforcement’s relentless pursuit of justice for victims of sexual violence, reflecting the broader efforts to handle such sensitive and serious crimes within the legal framework of the United States.
