Electric Daisy Carnival 2025 to Feature 16th Stage

News Summary

Las Vegas is set to host the Electric Daisy Carnival 2025, attracting over 525,000 attendees with a new Ubuntu stage. The stage will showcase 250 artists, highlighting African EDM talents. This addition represents a collaboration aimed at promoting music education in underprivileged communities while offering a vibrant festival experience filled with entertainment and safety initiatives.

Las Vegas is gearing up for one of the most anticipated music festivals, the Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) 2025, scheduled to take place from May 16-18, 2025, at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The event is expected to attract a record-breaking 525,000 attendees, a number comparable to the population of Sacramento, and aims to celebrate the vibrant world of electronic dance music (EDM).

In a groundbreaking move, EDC organizers have announced the introduction of a 16th stage, known as the Ubuntu stage, which will feature over 250 artists throughout the festival. This stage is the result of a partnership with Bridges for Music, a South African education nonprofit, and it aims to spotlight a diverse mix of established and emerging African DJs showcasing various genres like Afro-house, Amapiano, and 3-Step.

The idea for the Ubuntu stage emerged approximately a month ahead of EDC 2024 when the founder of Bridges for Music, Valentino Barrioseta, was contacted by renowned DJ Skrillex. Their collaboration with Insomniac’s founder, Pasquale Rotella, paved the way for the inclusion of African music at one of the world’s largest electronic music festivals.

Designed to encapsulate the “rawness, authenticity, and vibrancy” of Langa township street parties, the Ubuntu stage will host 21 sets featuring prominent artists such as DJ Lag, Uncle Waffles, and Kitty Armor, alongside special guests. Uncle Waffles, hailing from Eswatini, has gained fame for her blend of deep house, soul, and jazz within the Amapiano subgenre.

The Ubuntu initiative aims to inspire students in South African communities, particularly those affected by apartheid, to follow their music aspirations. Many of these budding artists are creating music with limited resources, often relying on refurbished or donated equipment. Barrioseta anticipates that the debut of the Ubuntu stage will mark a significant moment for the African EDM scene.

EDC 2025 will offer not only music but a wide array of entertainment options. Live broadcasting will be available through Insomniac TV and YouTube across multiple stages. The festival is also introducing a third edition of the Hotel EDC, featuring festival-themed experiences at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas and luxurious accommodation packages. Additionally, attendees can enjoy various attractions beyond music, including art installations, carnival rides, themed bars, and special events in downtown Las Vegas.

In an effort to promote safety during the festival, Victoria’s Voice will host a Naloxone pop-up to provide opioid overdose-reversal medications and educational resources. This initiative underscores the festival’s commitment to attendee well-being.

Among the celebrated artists slated to perform at EDC 2025 are notable names like Zedd, Tiësto, Armin Van Buuren, Alison Wonderland, and Martin Garrix. A total of 395 sets are planned across the festival’s 15 stages, ensuring a robust lineup for attendees.

As the excitement builds for EDC 2025, last-minute tickets remain available, with three-day passes starting at $735.93, subject to market demand fluctuations. With a record-setting stage and a commitment to showcasing African talent, this year’s festival promises to be a memorable experience for all attendees.
