Las Vegas Aviators Launch HELP2O Campaign to Support Unhoused Community Amid Extreme Summer Heat

Las Vegas, NV – The Las Vegas Aviators have kicked off a new initiative aimed at assisting the city’s unhoused community amidst the extreme summer heat. Partnering with HELP of Southern Nevada, the HELP2O campaign seeks to provide relief to those in need from June 10 through July 20 during every home game at the Las Vegas Ballpark.

During the campaign, fans attending games will have the opportunity to contribute by donating at checkout when purchasing concessions. Additionally, there will be a special pre-game Water Extravaganza on June 13 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., where attendees can donate bottled water or make monetary contributions to support the cause. In return for their generosity, donors at this event will receive tickets for a future home game.

How to Contribute

For those unable to attend the ballpark, bottled water donations can be made at the Framing Hope Warehouse, located at 1600 E. Flamingo Road. The warehouse will accept these donations from Monday through Thursday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Water donations are welcomed until September 1, while monetary contributions can be made online throughout the campaign duration.

Distribution Efforts

HELP of Southern Nevada is tasked with distributing the collected donations directly to homeless individuals during the hot summer months. The organization recently concluded its 13th annual HELP2O Water Drive, which successfully provided over 84,000 bottles of water and raised more than $15,000 in financial contributions. This water drive, which spans from May 28 until Labor Day weekend, focuses on assisting at-risk families and individuals in Las Vegas.

Community Support

The campaign has garnered support from various local businesses and organizations, including UFC, Wynn, and BJ’s Restaurant Brewery, demonstrating a collective commitment to help the unhoused community. The Chief Community Relations Officer of HELP of Southern Nevada highlighted the urgent need for the drive, especially given the harsh summer conditions where individuals may require water supply every 20 minutes, according to the CDC guidelines.

Notable Contributions

A standout contribution was made by a couple who collected over 13,000 bottles of water through initiatives at their workplace. Their generous effort exemplifies the community spirit that the HELP2O campaign aims to foster. HELP of Southern Nevada’s outreach team will ensure the collected water is distributed effectively to those most in need on the streets.

As temperatures rise, the importance of accessibility to hydration for those without stable housing cannot be overstated. The community is encouraged to support the HELP2O campaign to assist individuals who struggle to meet basic hydration needs during these extreme heat conditions.

Through collaborative efforts and community participation, the Las Vegas Aviators and HELP of Southern Nevada aspire to make a tangible difference in the lives of the unhoused population in Las Vegas this summer.
