Las Vegas has been officially recognized as the best city in the nation to celebrate the 4th of July, according to a recent report released by WalletHub. Each year, millions of Americans gather to honor Independence Day, with this year’s projections indicating that approximately 86% of the population plans to observe the holiday. Collectively, food spending for the festivities is expected to reach an impressive $8.9 billion.

In its analysis, WalletHub compared the 100 largest cities in the United States by assessing a variety of entertainment and cost factors. The report utilized an extensive data set consisting of 18 key metrics, which included average beer and wine prices, the legality of fireworks, duration of fireworks shows, and local weather forecasts. This thorough examination highlighted Las Vegas as the prime choice for celebrating the 4th of July.

Las Vegas achieved top rankings in several categories critical to holiday celebrations, including the legality of fireworks, the popularity of July 4th activities, average hamburger cost, and the prevalence of affordable restaurants boasting a 4.5-star rating or higher. However, the city did score lower in other areas, ranking 55th in walkability, 43rd in the duration of fireworks displays, and 38th regarding traffic congestion.

Topping the rankings for the best places to celebrate the 4th of July, Las Vegas was followed by New York City in second place, Los Angeles in third, Minneapolis in fourth, and St. Paul in fifth. On the opposite end of the spectrum, Newark, Aurora, Colorado, and Laredo, Texas, found themselves among the lowest-ranked cities in WalletHub’s report.

Residents and visitors in Las Vegas can look forward to a range of celebratory events including the 31st Annual Summerlin Council Patriotic Parade, which kicks off at 9 a.m. at the corner of Hillpointe Road and Hills Center Drive. This year, the Summerlin parade features an impressive lineup with 70 entries, including a 50-foot American Eagle and various themed floats, all free for public attendance.

Another local event is the Boulder City Damboree, which begins the day with a pancake breakfast at 7 a.m. It is followed by a parade starting at 9 a.m., numerous games, food options, and a fireworks show at 9 p.m. In Henderson, the Fourth of July Celebration at Heritage Park is set to begin at 6 p.m. with live entertainment culminating in a fireworks display at 9 p.m.

A range of fireworks shows is scheduled across the city, including displays at M Resort, Rio, Palms, and The Strat, which is hosting a fireworks viewing party for ticketed guests. The Plaza will stand out as the only Downtown Las Vegas location to hold a fireworks show at 9:15 p.m., with free viewing for the public. Fireworks will also light up the skies at several Station Casinos and Lake Las Vegas at 9 p.m.

The STRAT will offer an additional fireworks viewing party starting at 5 p.m., accessible to both adults and children, with varying ticket prices. At Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, guests can enjoy a free BBQ accompanied by live music on July 4. Moreover, the Moapa Band of Paiutes is set to host its “Rock the Sky” celebration featuring live country music and fireworks at 10 p.m.

For those with a sweet tooth, Pinkbox Doughnuts will provide a special lineup of star-spangled treats in honor of Independence Day. Meanwhile, La Neta Cocina y Lounge plans to offer a happy hour and lunch specials. Lastly, Downtown Container Park is hosting a “4th of July Beer Bash” from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m., complete with unlimited beer tastings and live music, while various local resorts will have themed events and food specials throughout the holiday weekend.
