Las Vegas – Tragedy struck in the northeast valley of Las Vegas on Tuesday night when a car crash resulted in the deaths of two adults and critically injured a child. The incident occurred at approximately 7:44 p.m. near East Carey Avenue and North Pecos Road.
According to the investigation reports from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD), a 2007 Nissan Murano was speeding eastbound on Carey Avenue at the time of the accident. As the vehicle approached the intersection with Pecos Road, the driver lost control, leading to a series of collisions.
The Nissan hit the southside curbing and traveled onto the sidewalk before crashing into a wall and striking a power pole. The impact redirected the vehicle back onto the roadway, where it finally came to rest. During the chaotic sequence, the driver was ejected onto the roadway, while the front passenger was thrown into the rear compartment of the SUV. A juvenile passenger was tragically pinned in the rear seat.
The young boy was transported to University Medical Center (UMC) for treatment and remains in critical condition. Meanwhile, the two adults – the driver and the front passenger – were pronounced dead at the scene. This incident marks a somber addition to the region’s traffic-related fatalities, bringing the total to 75 and 76 for the year 2025, as recorded by the LVMPD.
The Collision Investigation Section of the LVMPD has launched an investigation into the crash, collecting evidence from the scene, including video footage of the incident. Authorities are working to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the crash and have urged any witnesses to come forward.
The events of this night serve as a somber reminder of the dangers present on the roads, particularly the risks associated with high-speed driving. Traffic fatalities have continued to be a significant concern for local law enforcement and community members alike, with added focus on educating drivers about safe driving practices.
As investigations continue, the community is left grappling with the consequences of this tragedy. The LVMPD’s efforts will aim not only to provide clarity on this incident but also to promote greater awareness of traffic safety in hopes of preventing future occurrences like this.
This accident echoes through the fabric of the local community, emphasizing the fragility of life and the need for vigilance when it comes to road safety. The pain of loss resonates deeply as families and friends reflect on the lives lost and those forever impacted by such unforeseen events.
