Police officers on the scene of a violent incident at a 7-Eleven in Las Vegas.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is investigating two violent incidents at separate 7-Eleven locations. One involved an attempted robbery while the other resulted in a fatal stabbing. Authorities are working to uncover details and the connection between the events as they prioritize public safety amidst rising crime in the area.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is currently investigating two violent incidents occurring at separate 7-Eleven locations across the city. One incident involved an attempted robbery at a convenience store located near Maryland Parkway and Vegas Valley Drive, while the other resulted in the fatal stabbing of a man in his 30s outside a 7-Eleven in the 900 block of Rancho Drive.
In the first incident, police reported that a male suspect attempted to rob a 7-Eleven. However, the cash register did not open, prompting the suspect to flee the scene on foot after his failed attempt. Authorities are actively conducting an ongoing investigation into this attempted robbery and have not yet released any descriptions of the suspect.
In a separate incident, police were alerted to a stabbing victim found outside a 7-Eleven store on Rancho Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man in his 30s with multiple stab wounds. He was provided medical treatment on-site and subsequently transported to University Medical Center (UMC), where he later succumbed to his injuries. The victim’s identity is expected to be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office, along with details regarding the cause and manner of his death.
The stabbing incident occurred alongside a separate shooting incident in the vicinity of the same 7-Eleven. Police are investigating whether these incidents are linked or part of a larger trend of violent acts in the area.
Authorities received a second call regarding a man, identified as 33-year-old Billy Bell Jr., who reported being shot at. Investigators found that Bell matched the description of the stabbing suspect. He was apprehended without incident and is currently being held at the Clark County Detention Center. Bell is facing charges for open murder with a deadly weapon and is reportedly cooperating with police during the ongoing investigation.
According to police reports, the victim and a friend arrived at the 7-Eleven together. The friend, armed during this encounter, become involved in a verbal dispute with Bell while the victim was inside the store. During the argument, the armed friend attempted to shoot Bell but missed. Following the argument, the victim exited the convenience store, which led to a confrontation between him and Bell that escalated into a physical fight.
After the initial encounter, the victim and his friend left the scene but later returned to confront Bell again. This second confrontation resulted in the stabbing of the victim, leading to his serious injuries and subsequent death.
Law enforcement officials are urging anyone with additional information about either the attempted robbery or the stabbing incident to come forward. Witnesses or individuals with knowledge related to the incidents are encouraged to contact the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Section to aid in their investigation.
As authorities continue to piece together the events leading up to these violent encounters, public safety remains a priority, and law enforcement is working diligently to address escalating crime in Las Vegas.
