The new facility will include 502 parking spaces, with 50 spaces designated specifically for electric vehicle charging. To prepare for this construction, fencing will be placed around the lot starting on June 23, with demolition activities scheduled to commence in July. This development comes as local residents and business owners express growing frustrations over the limited parking options available in the area, particularly during events when demand peaks.
Locals have shown optimism about the new parking garage, believing it will significantly alleviate parking challenges for both residents and visitors to the area. As it stands, the Arts District currently provides 480 on-street parking spaces and 874 parking lot spaces. In the past two years, the area has expanded its parking capacity by approximately 300 spaces. To assist residents and visitors during the closure, city officials have outlined alternative parking options available south of Charleston Boulevard. Monthly permits can be obtained through the City of Las Vegas to ease the transition while the garage is under construction.
The new parking garage is projected to not only provide essential parking but also offer between 10,000-15,000 square feet of retail space at its ground level. Specific tenants for this space have yet to be announced, but city officials are optimistic about the potential economic benefits of the garage. They anticipate that the facility will generate approximately $1.3 million in revenue during its first year of operation.
