The new Planet Hollywood Poker Room is set to enhance the gaming experience for poker enthusiasts.
Caesars Entertainment announced the reopening of poker rooms at Caesars Palace and Planet Hollywood this May, just in time for the 2025 World Series of Poker. The new Planet Hollywood Poker Room will feature 23 tables and modern amenities, creating an inviting atmosphere for players. Meanwhile, a temporary poker room at Caesars Palace will serve guests until a permanent location is established. As the Las Vegas poker scene continues to evolve post-pandemic, this development is expected to enhance the city’s status as a premier poker destination.
Las Vegas, NV – Caesars Entertainment has announced plans to reopen poker rooms at Caesars Palace and Planet Hollywood this May, creating excitement for poker enthusiasts as the city gears up for the 2025 World Series of Poker (WSOP).
The 2025 WSOP is set to take place from May 27 to July 16 at Horseshoe Las Vegas, making the timing of the poker room openings especially strategic. The new Poker Room at Planet Hollywood will replace The London Club on the mezzanine level and will be larger than its predecessor, which closed in 2021.
The Planet Hollywood Poker Room will boast 23 tables, with 12 dedicated to cash games, accommodating a wider range of players. In addition to its spacious layout, the room will feature a gothic style of decor that aims to create a unique gaming atmosphere.
Players will have access to modern amenities, including 21 flatscreen televisions for entertainment, and a balcony that overlooks the bustling casino floor, offering an enhanced view of the ongoing action below. The poker room will also come equipped with a full-service bar and a private bathroom accessible through a back hallway, increasing convenience for players.
Moreover, a private backroom, inspired by the aesthetics of high-stakes poker from earlier seasons of popular shows, will be available for private games and potential live-streams. This backroom will showcase images from iconic Las Vegas movies, adding an entertainment element to the gaming experience.
At Caesars Palace, a temporary poker room will be located in the Appian Way retail area, with future plans for a more permanent location to be announced. The previous poker room was shuttered to make way for additional slot machines, marking a shift in the casino’s offerings.
Caesars Entertainment has also made headlines recently by selling the WSOP naming rights for $500 million, securing the future of hosting WSOP events at its Las Vegas properties for the next two decades.
Currently, 17 poker rooms are operational across Las Vegas casinos, according to local gaming data. The new poker room at Planet Hollywood is expected to attract interest due to its promising schedule, which will include two WSOP Circuit stops and four daily tournaments with a $100 buy-in.
Adding to the excitement, the Chainsaw Mixed Series of Poker (CMSOP), organized by noted operator Allen Kessler, is planned from May 12 to 20, featuring various formats such as Omaha 8, Stud 8, H.O.R.S.E., Big O, and 2-7 Triple Draw.
Despite the reopening of poker rooms, the Las Vegas Strip has seen a 4.8% drop in gaming win compared to the previous year, while downtown Las Vegas reported a double-digit percentage increase in March. These fluctuations highlight the ongoing challenges faced by the gaming industry as it continues to recover from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Additionally, MGM Resorts recently reported job losses at concierge desks across multiple properties, suggesting that the industry is still grappling with operational adjustments in a post-pandemic environment.
The operations of the new poker room at Planet Hollywood will be managed by a team consisting of Anthony Mink, Andy Rich, and Anthony Moody. Their aim is to establish a more relaxed and enjoyable poker environment in contrast to the high-stakes venues currently popular on the Strip.
As poker fans eagerly await the return of these newly revamped poker spaces, the reopening of the Planet Hollywood and Caesars Palace poker rooms is poised to boost the gaming experience in Las Vegas and further enhance the city’s status as a premier destination for poker players.
