Las Vegas – A 20-year-old woman from Iowa, Secret White, was arrested by the Metropolitan Police Department following a shooting incident that occurred on the Las Vegas Strip early on June 8, 2025. The shooting allegedly took place after a member of the victim’s group made a joke that angered White.
White faces multiple charges, including attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and discharging a firearm. She was booked into the Clark County Detention Center and remained in custody as of Wednesday morning after her arrest on July 3. Bail has been set at $50,000, with conditions for release that include wearing an ankle monitor and avoiding the Strip if bond is posted.
The incident unfolded around 4:45 a.m. when the victim, whose identity has been redacted from the arrest report, was out with friends. Following the joke made by someone in the victim’s group, White became visibly agitated. She then allegedly drew a handgun from a tote bag and opened fire on the fleeing group.
Security footage captured the entire incident, showing White and five others walking on Las Vegas Boulevard shortly before the shooting occurred. As the victims ran towards Circus Circus in fear, armed security personnel contacted the police. The footage revealed that White initially dropped the firearm but retrieved it moments later before firing multiple shots.
After the shooting, White and her group fled the scene in a white Mercedes sedan. Investigators were able to track down the vehicle using a temporary Arizona license plate tied to a man close to White. Corroborating evidence from social media confirmed their connection to the registered owner of the vehicle.
White returned to Las Vegas on July 3, leading to her arrest near Tropicana and Paradise Roads. During an interview with the police, White identified herself in the surveillance footage but denied having fired at the victim or his companions.
Following her arrest, White made her initial court appearance on July 4, 2025. A public defender was appointed to her case, and a preliminary hearing has been scheduled for July 22.
This shooting incident highlights ongoing concerns about public safety on the Las Vegas Strip, an area frequently bustling with tourists and nightlife. Authorities continue to monitor such incidents closely, ensuring that laws are upheld and public safety measures are enforced.
As the legal proceedings unfold, the community remains watchful for additional developments in this case involving serious allegations and community safety implications.
