Community members come together to support vulnerable individuals through a water drive in Las Vegas.
The Las Vegas community faces severe challenges this summer due to rising temperatures, leading to increased demand for bottled water. Various local organizations, including Channel 13, Beasley Media Group, and Project H20, have initiated water drives to assist vulnerable individuals and families. The drives encourage donations of bottled water and aim to raise awareness about the ongoing need for accessible resources in the area, especially for those affected by homelessness. Community members are urged to participate in these efforts to ensure vital support reaches those in need.
The Las Vegas community is facing significant challenges this summer due to soaring temperatures, which have amplified the need for accessible bottled water. Many residents in the Las Vegas valley do not have reliable access to this vital resource, prompting several organizations to launch water drives aimed at supporting vulnerable individuals and families.
Channel 13 and Beasley Media Group have joined forces with Project H20 to kick off a water drive beginning on May 14. The initiative encourages local residents to contribute unopened cases of bottled water, with donations being accepted until May 17. Donors can drop off any brand or size of bottled water at KKLZ Studios, located at 2920 S. Durango Drive, from Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. Proceeds from this drive will benefit The Salvation Army, which plays a key role in distributing resources to those in need.
Furthermore, the Las Vegas Rescue Mission has also issued a call for bottled water donations, particularly aimed at assisting individuals experiencing homelessness during the hot summer months. This campaign runs from May 13 through August 31, during which time the organization is specifically seeking donations of men’s and women’s underwear, socks, and hygiene kits—including feminine hygiene products. Contributions can be made at any hour at the security gate of the Las Vegas Rescue Mission.
For larger donations or to coordinate a group effort, interested parties can contact Heather Williams, the director of development for the Las Vegas Rescue Mission. For any inquiries, she can be reached at 702-320-2089.
In addition to the aforementioned initiatives, the HELP20 Water Drive is set to take place on August 14, organized by UFC in collaboration with Monster Energy. This annual event, now in its 13th year, aims to distribute and purchase over 60 pallets of water for those in need. The HELP20 campaign spans 14 weeks each summer, focusing on raising awareness, funds, and bottled water donations specifically for homeless families and individuals.
UFC athletes have actively participated in the delivery of pallets of water during past events, reinforcing community engagement in addressing this pressing issue. HELP of Southern Nevada operates a dedicated homeless response team that distributes water while providing assistance to individuals living in cars or other unsuitable locations. This organization delivers more than 40 programs and services designed to help individuals and families increase self-sufficiency and secure stable housing options.
The combined efforts of Channel 13, Beasley Media Group, Project H20, The Salvation Army, and the Las Vegas Rescue Mission highlight a community-wide response to counteract the challenges posed by high temperatures and water scarcity. The collaboration showcases how different organizations can work together to address essential needs within the community. Meanwhile, sponsors like Monster Energy and UFC are stepping up as advocates to generate greater awareness around the importance of accessible clean water for all, especially vulnerable populations.
As summer temperatures continue to rise, the need for bottled water will remain critical. The Las Vegas community is encouraged to participate in these drives to ensure that essential resources are available to those who are most at risk during the hottest months of the year.
