About the Temple

This groundbreaking comes just 17 days before the dedication of the Elko Nevada Temple, which is scheduled for October 12, 2025.
The announcement for the Lone Mountain temple was made by President Russell M. Nelson during a general conference on October 2, 2022, as part of a list of 18 new temple locations. Nevada currently hosts two active temples, the Las Vegas Nevada Temple, dedicated on December 16, 1989, and the Reno Nevada Temple, dedicated on April 23, 2000. The Elko Nevada Temple recently concluded its open house on September 13, 2025.
