Natali Germanotta, sister of pop icon Lady Gaga, has officially launched a costume and supply store named On Stage Essentials in Las Vegas. Located at 3550 E. Post Road, the store is specifically designed to cater to the needs of the entertainment industry, serving both local artists and touring professionals.
Alongside her husband, Alex Dolan, and Emmy Award-winning designer Perry Meek, Germanotta aims to address the challenges artists face in sourcing materials for costume design. The store’s inventory includes rhinestones, feathers, fabrics, and trims, all essential elements of Las Vegas-style costume artistry. On Stage Essentials is positioned as a vital resource for a wide range of artists, from established professionals to those just beginning their journeys in the industry.
The grand opening of On Stage Essentials included a series of VIP events spearheaded by Germanotta and Dolan. Both partners have extensive backgrounds in design, having graduated from the acclaimed Parsons School of Design and owning their own New York-based design studio, Topo Studio.
Germanotta and Dolan are dedicated to fostering a welcoming environment for artists of all experience levels, including DIY creators. Recognizing the needs of local talent, the couple frequently travels between their home in New York and their business in Las Vegas, immersing themselves in local productions to ensure that the store remains in tune with the artistic community.
To gain better insights into the city’s unique entertainment landscape, the couple has attended various shows, including Cirque’s “O” and “Ka”. These experiences have helped them remain aware of the specific needs and preferences of costume designers and performers in the region, ultimately shaping the offerings at On Stage Essentials.
Germanotta’s extensive experience in costume design has been highlighted through her collaborations with Lady Gaga, where she has contributed to numerous projects, including the “Jazz + Piano” and “Enigma” residencies, as well as the “Chromatica Ball” tour. Notably, she also designed costumes for the critically acclaimed film “A Star is Born.” Her work has gained recognition, such as the striking teal crepe and black-satin silk velvet dress she designed for Gaga at the 2022 Grammy Awards.
The commitment to supporting artists extends beyond their store, as evidenced by the heartfelt mention of Natali during Gaga’s Oscar acceptance speech for Best Original Song for “Shallow.” In the speech, Gaga referred to her sister as “my sister, my soulmate, I love you,” showcasing the strong familial bonds that anchor their collaborative spirit.
Dolan oversees the business operations, design flow, and digital strategies for On Stage Essentials. The idea for the store originated approximately five years ago as the couple faced difficulties obtaining materials while working in Las Vegas. They have since turned this challenge into an opportunity, creating a platform that streamlines access to the materials that artists need.
With a strong focus on community support, both Germanotta and Dolan are committed to nurturing the artistic community in Las Vegas. As they embark on this new venture, they continue to collaborate with their network of artists, ensuring that On Stage Essentials becomes a key player in the vibrant world of performance and costume design in Las Vegas.
