Las Vegas – A local woman, identified as Jane, has filed a lawsuit against Oasis Medical Services, a clinic in Las Vegas, claiming she was sexually assaulted by an employee during medical visits. The lawsuit also names Edward Tionloc, the accused staff member, who has been arrested and charged in connection with the allegations.

According to the lawsuit, Jane visited Oasis Medical Services on February 11 after being referred by Dr. Farooq Shaikh, the clinic’s owner. During her first appointment, she claimed that Tionloc greeted her at the front desk and made her feel comfortable, leading her to believe that she was in a safe medical environment. Jane alleged that Tionloc, whom she believed was a nurse, groped her breasts without gloves and advised her against wearing a wire bra for a week, actions that she described as inappropriate.

The incident escalated during Jane’s follow-up appointment for urine test results. She claimed that Tionloc instructed her to lie down on the exam table, pulled down her pants and underwear, and conducted an examination without proper medical procedure. During this examination, he made invasive comments about her condition and asked her inappropriate questions regarding her personal life. Jane recorded their exchanges on her cell phone to capture Tionloc’s behavior for documentation.

Following the alleged incidents, Tionloc was arrested on February 26 and charged with felony sexual assault and open or gross lewdness. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges. The police report indicates that Jane’s experience may shed light on a broader issue of sexual abuse occurring in medical settings across Nevada. It is noted that many cases of sexual misconduct go unreported due to societal stigma, according to representatives from the Nevada Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence.

Jane’s attorney, Al Lasso, has raised concerns regarding the clinic’s hiring practices, alleging that they failed to properly vet their employees, thereby creating a dangerous environment for patients. It was revealed that Tionloc held no medical license or certification, yet claimed to have experience working in hospitals. A nurse practitioner at the clinic, Jennifer Spinato, acknowledged that Tionloc was a temporary employee and pointed out the limited oversight over his actions.

After Jane reported her allegations to the police on February 18, Tionloc was subsequently fired from Oasis Medical Services. Spinato is also no longer employed at the clinic following the incident. Jane holds both Tionloc and Oasis Medical Services, along with Dr. Shaikh, liable for negligence and corporate failures regarding the treatment she received.

The lawsuit aims to not only seek accountability for Jane’s experience but also sheds light on potential systemic issues within the medical community. Jane expressed hopes that her story will encourage other victims of similar situations to come forward and prevent future occurrences of such misconduct.

This case has raised critical awareness about the safety of patients within healthcare environments and underscores the importance of proper staff vetting and training. As the legal proceedings advance, the community’s attention remains focused on ensuring that the medical field provides a safe and nurturing environment for all patients.
