Construction underway at the I-15/Tropicana Interchange, impacting traffic flow in Las Vegas.
The Nevada Department of Transportation has announced significant lane restrictions and road closures for the I-15/Tropicana Interchange reconstruction project starting May 29. Motorists are advised to prepare for delays as the project aims to enhance traffic flow and safety in Las Vegas. Key lane closures will include limited access on Tropicana Avenue and multiple ramp closures on I-15 throughout early June. NDOT recommends alternative routes to mitigate inconveniences during this period.
Las Vegas, NV – The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) has announced that significant road closures and lane restrictions will affect the I-15/Tropicana Interchange reconstruction project over the coming weeks, impacting traffic in the Las Vegas area. The closures are set to begin on May 29 and will extend through the end of June, resulting in potential delays for motorists.
Starting May 29, Tropicana Avenue westbound from Las Vegas Boulevard to Polaris will experience limited access, with only one lane open nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. These lane restrictions will remain in effect through June 26.
Noteworthy closures are also planned for the I-15 ramps during the reconstruction period. Specifically:
Despite the closures, Tropicana Avenue eastbound and westbound from Polaris to Valley View will keep two lanes open in each direction from June 1 through July 1, operating continuously, 24/7. Furthermore, Frank Sinatra Drive will have one lane open in each direction between Bellagio and Reno nightly on June 9 and June 10 from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. Similarly, Harmon Avenue will have one lane open in each direction during peak hours from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. on June 1, June 2, June 11, June 12, and June 15.
The NDOT advises all motorists to prepare for potential delays and consider using alternate routes during this period. The ongoing reconstruction project aims to improve traffic flow and safety at the I-15/Tropicana Interchange, an essential junction in the Las Vegas area known for high traffic volume.
The I-15/Tropicana Interchange reconstruction project has been designed to enhance the interchange’s capacity and improve overall traffic safety. The project involves modernizing existing infrastructure, adding new lanes, and optimizing traffic signals. While the project will improve future traffic conditions, the route’s current configurations necessitate temporary closures and restrictions, prompting NDOT to inform drivers in advance to mitigate inconveniences.
Motorists are encouraged to remain vigilant and attentive as they navigate the area during construction, and to stay updated on the latest traffic conditions through local resources. The NDOT continues to emphasize the importance of planning travel routes accordingly.
