Las Vegas – The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) celebrated the grand opening of its new virtual reality learning center on Monday, September 22, 2025. This state-of-the-art facility is designed to enhance educational experiences by integrating advanced virtual reality technology into academic curriculums.

The new center aims to provide students with immersive learning opportunities that foster engagement and deeper understanding of complex concepts. It is part of UNLV’s commitment to modernize education and equip students with the necessary skills to thrive in a technology-driven world.

Showcasing the potential of virtual reality, the center will debut a unique experience titled “Interstellar Arc,” created by Felix & Paul Studios. The highly anticipated installation is set to launch next month at Area15 in Las Vegas. This experience transports visitors to the 27th century, beginning their journey from a spaceport in the 25th century.

In “Interstellar Arc,” guests will board a spaceship set in the year 2406, experience a fictional cryogenic sleep, and awaken 262 years later as they approach an unknown destination. This engaging narrative is crafted to immerse participants in an innovative form of entertainment that emphasizes active involvement and sensory engagement.

Initial feedback from early participants suggests that the “Interstellar Arc” experience is “visually beautiful and surreal,” with an emphasis on the emotional realism surrounding the process of waking from cryosleep. This demonstrates the project’s potential to evoke meaningful responses and reflections in participants.

Felix & Paul Studios, co-founded by Felix Lajeunesse, has a track record of cutting-edge virtual reality work. The studio previously collaborated with Cirque du Soleil and created the award-winning four-part series “Space Explorers: The ISS Experience,” which received an Emmy Award in 2021, showcasing their ability to merge art and technology effectively.

“Interstellar Arc” is a part of the larger expansion of Area15, which also features attractions such as Universal Horror Unleashed. The combination of these attractions is expected to draw significant crowds and enhance the entertainment landscape in Las Vegas.

Ticket prices for “Interstellar Arc” will start at $54 for adults and $39 for children ages 8 to 12. Visitors are advised to allow at least one hour to fully experience the journey on the spaceship, ensuring an engaging and immersive adventure for all ages.

This new virtual reality learning center complements UNLV’s broader strategy to integrate technology into education and provides an opportunity for students and community members to explore the possibilities of future technologies in a hands-on environment. The center is poised to be a landmark addition to the university’s offerings, preparing students for a rapidly evolving digital landscape.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony marks a significant step for UNLV as it continues to innovate and leverage technology to improve the educational experience, fostering an environment where creativity and technology converge to inspire learning. With initiatives like the new virtual reality center and experiences like “Interstellar Arc,” the university is leading the charge in modern education.
